How to stay safe while appearing for the IIT-JEE entrance examination.

India has become the first and only country in the world to report 80,000 COVID-19 cases in one day and under such circumstances, the state is conducting an all India entry-level examination for college aspirants. At times like these, it becomes critical as well as unavoidable to take all safety measures while appearing for these exams. By following some simple steps, safety can be ensured:

  1. Post-exam preparation - A night before the exam, prepare a proper folder for all your documents and safety essentials. Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer, a mask, and a face shield ready and accessible. Visit the centre and figure out the shortest route and record time that it takes for you to reach the centre. If traveling from another state, make sure to reach a day in advance to avoid the last-minute hassle.

  2. Don't panic - It's obvious that the pressure of giving an important exam becomes even more overwhelming when it comes to giving it during a pandemic crisis. Hence, it is advisable to keep your cool during the entire process. Make sure to reach the examination centres well in time so that you can enter the centre calmly while abiding by social distancing.

  3. Safety Instructions - National Testing Agency (NTA) has already issued safety guidelines for the students to follow while appearing for the exam. It's advisable to thoroughly read these instructions and prepare accordingly to avoid confusion at the entry gates. These include: 3.1 Getting a filled in undertaking on the admit cards and having temperature checked using thermo guns at the entry gates. 3.2 Students will be expected to remove their masks at the time of entry and will be issued a fresh 3 ply mask to stop the chances of UFM. 3.3 With hand sanitizers available at different locations in the centre, the Students are supposed to maintain social distancing and can sanitize in case of any doubts.  3.4 Facilities for washing hands with soap and sanitizers will be available at the entry gates and the Students must carry a transparent bottle of hand sanitizer alongside their examination apparatus. Follow the above-mentioned instructions carefully, to avoid creating a fiasco.

  4. Queue - Form a proper queue by maintaining a gap of 6 feet between the candidates while entering through the main gates as well as the classrooms. Even at the end of the exams, walk out patiently towards the exits with overcrowding.
